Job Description

Job Summary:

Researches, analyzes and reconciles reimbursement policies and procedures to ensure optimal reimbursement from public/private payers.


  • Performs error analysis for disputed/denied claims and provides recommendations for process improvements. Assists with third party audits when necessary.

  • Investigates, evaluates, recommends and implements fee updates and new fees.

  • Acts as a resource for information on public/private payer assistance and guidelines. Researches reimbursement issues as necessary.

  • Trains and coaches staff regarding proper coding and reimbursement policies and procedures.

  • Coordinates clinical research activities and monitors compliance of research studies.

  • Assists with organization and development of research studies as requested.

  • Participates in the IRB.



  • Required Credential(s):

  • One or more of the following:

  • Coder credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Coder credentialed from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.


  • HS or Equivalent

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Work Experience:

  • 3+ years medical coding experience required. Must be knowledgeable in ICD10, CPT and HCPCS coding.
