Job Description

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Physician provides direct care to patients in the Emergency Department.


  • Performs urgent and emergent care procedures including EKGs, wound care, vital sign monitoring, IV initiation and codes.

  • Monitors patient condition and performs data collection. Communicates findings and patient condition to primary Registered Nurse (RN).

  • Maintains accurate documentation in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

  • Assists with the mobilization, ambulation and transport of patients.



  • Required Credential(s):

  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Preferred Credential(s):

  • Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the Florida Department of Health. Will consider Hospital Corpsman with no licensure requirement.


  • HS or Equivalent

  • High school diploma or equivalent required for Hospital Corpsman Graduate of an accredited EMT or Paramedic Program required if not Hospital Corpsman

Work Experience:

  • Previous EMT or Hospital Corpsman experience required.
