Current Need

McKesson is seeking an Rx Generics Associate Category Manager to join our team in Richmond, VA or Jacksonville, FL.

Position Description

The Rx Category Manager will have responsibility for revenue and margin growth for pharmaceutical (Rx) category portfolio within some of our identified key growth therapeutic categories as well as our Rx services portfolio. Manages vendor/supplier relationships. Assesses financial state, supplier performance, product mix, and market growth opportunities of categories to formulate overall strategic plan of action. Clearly communicates category strategy within organization with intent of influencing and gaining agreement among key constituents. Develops tactical plans to execute on strategy and manages projects as needed to deliver intended results. Conducts negotiations with vendors to form contract terms and conditions that align to long-range category strategy. Builds and leverages relationships with external suppliers as well as marketing and sales, legal/pricing/contracts, and inventory management teams. Work involves significant analysis to identify financial profit levers for long range product category growth.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Development of strategies within assigned product categories and clearly communicates category strategy within organization with intent of influencing and gaining agreement among key constituents. Assesses financial state, supplier performance, product mix, and market growth opportunities of categories to formulate overall strategic plan of action

  • Develop strategy regarding Rx services portfolio. Partner with sales reps and customers to understand gaps in current portfolio, complete competitive analysis, and present to senior leaders recommendations for investments and growth within services

  • Conducts negotiations with vendors to form contract terms and conditions that align to long-range category strategy

  • Manage multiple cross-functional projects as needed related to Rx services or product categories

Minimum Requirements

3 years experience in areas such as product management, purchasing, marketing/sales, and or finance

Critical Skills

  • 2 years working with finance/analytics function with ability to make recommendations based on analytical findings

  • 2 years experience with vendor negotiations

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel- Pivots, VLookups and PowerPoint)

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Healthcare industry experience preferred

  • Financial acumen

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and written/verbal skills

  • Ability to collect and analyze data

  • Solid understanding of supply chain operations and financial profitability levers

  • Manage multiple projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem solving

Education

4-year degree in business, finance, marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience
